A DUTCH radio presenter has apologised to a young female singer after confronting her with a nude man while she was singing live on air. 20-year-old Maan de Steenwinkel, was performing on Radio 538 when she was confronted, as she put it “with a willy in my face” and burst into tears.

AN ELDERLY MAN who helped his 99-year-old mother to die seven years ago should be given a three-month suspended jail sentence, the public prosecution department told the court in Den Bosch on Monday. The public prosecutor said that while it did not doubt the man had the best intentions, he should be punished for going his own way.

A SURVEY of the electrical vehicle sector has revealed that only around 15 per cent of Dutch motorists are considering buying an electric car in the near future despite a government commitment to stop selling new petrol and diesel cars by 2030.

AN APARTMENT COMPLEX with 42 flats in Leiden was evacuated in the early hours of Monday morning after a carbon monoxide scare. Checks revealed boilers in some of the apartments were producing too much of the poisonous gas, leading officials to evacuate the entire complex of over 100 people.

AMSTERDAM CENTRAL STATION’S main concourse is now only accessible to people with a valid ticket or travel card. The move is part of a wider NS strategy to improve safety and stop people travelling without paying the fare. Beforehand, the ticket barriers were open, meaning anyone could pass through freely.
