THE strike by drivers that operate the TRAM service in Alicante will continue with a series of stoppages over the next few days.

Unless agreement is reached – which it hasn’t been as we go to press on Wednesday evening – the strikes that are part of a long running dispute that began in September will take place tomorrow (Friday) and Sunday.

Four unions are involved in the industrial action – the UGT, CCOO, SIF and SCF – and there is certainly light at the end of this particular train tunnel that progress can be made to stop the strikes that are planned to continue until January 12, 2018.

The TRAM service that operates between Alicante and Denia will suffer disruptions tomorrow (Friday) from 6.35pm to 10.35pm and on Sunday December 10 from 6.15pm to 10.15pm.  Travellers will experience a minimum 60 per cent service in the peak hours (from 12 noon to 4pm and again from 7pm to 10pm) and a 50 per cent service for the rest of the day.
