OFFICERS from the Guardia Civil have arrested three Spanish men connected with a number of violent robberies in the Vega Baja.

The three – aged 25, 28 and 34 – were detained in Formentera del Segura and Benijófar, and are suspected of being behind a particularly violent attack on two people that were at home during one of their robberies back in September.  They used such force on one of the victims that they fractured a knee of one of them that still needs medical treatment and physiotherapy.

After some very thorough investigations, officers from the Guardia Civil in Almoradí and Guardamar tracked down the suspects and raided their homes.  In them, they found the Taser electronic weapons that had been used in the thefts as well as a large cultivation of marijuana that would have been sold for around €15,000 on the open market when fully grown.

Two of the arrested suspects have already been sent to prison until their trial; the third was released on the understanding that he regularly signs in with the court and doesn’t leave the country.
