PEGO COUNCIL announced this week that it will intensify its monitoring of the Monte Pego urbanisation.
The announcement comes as an illegal dump has been established – where unscrupulous individuals are dumping their home/ garden waste.
Councillor of Environment Laura Castella said the dump has been in operation for weeks:
“We have had to remove waste abandoned there more than once now.”
Castella says the council is not talking about small amounts of home/ garden waste. Municipal workers have filled several trucks to leave the area clean, only to find it piled high a few days later.
She reminded individuals that the Ecoparque is available for their use and reminded businesses that they should be contracting accredited waste management companies to dispose of their waste.
Municipal workers have cleared the area once again, but the council has stressed that this situation cannot continue – individuals and businesses must not dump their home/garden waste there.
If you know who is dumping on their waste the Monte Pego urbanisation, use Pego’s ‘Linea Verde’ website and/ or mobile app to report it.
