THE beaches of Estepona will soon be introducing more services for the disabled.
New shaded areas will be installed on the beaches of Vaquero, Casasola, El Saladillo, while existing ones will be renewed.
Councillor for Beaches Susana Aragon explained that the new facilities will be larger than those provided previously, and will be made of stainless steel.
They will be located near the disability-friendly toilets and are due to be available before the summer season begins.
The facilities have been funded by a €51,000 grant that the Council received from the Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol.
Ms Aragon added that all the above beaches have specially adapted access for those with physical disabilities.
Alongside this the Council has made available 14 adapted loungers, seven beach walkers with four wheels, and 14 sets of waterproof crutches for anyone who needs them.
Given the rise in popularity of watersports, the Junta de Andalucia has also been asked to install a public waterway on the beach of Castor, to enable the public to access the sea with jet skis or similar machines
