ONE of the most common sights and sounds of Benidorm is facing the axe due to a crackdown among a number of hotels.
The traditional hen night trips and stag dos could well be a thing of the past on this part of the Costa Blanca as some of the hotels have begun to prevent such groups making bookings in their establishments.
The case of one such stag party originally planned for Benidorm was changed to Tenerife when the organiser – Allan McDonald, 34, of Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire – was advised by two travel agents that he and his group might face some issues with the hotel.
He told British media: “We were a group of nine and we were set on Benidorm. We had been saving and looking to book for April but, when we went into the travel agents, we were shocked.” He went on to say that “…we would need to split the booking into pairs but risked being asked to leave the hotel if the management discovered we were all together on a stag do. We had to rule out Benidorm after being told that.”
Hotel chain RH Hotels – who manage seven hotels in Benidorm – already state on their website and the page connected with group bookings: “Stag and hen groups not accepted. Individual bookings that make up a group will not be accepted. Group bookings of more than four rooms not accepted.”
