TWO beaches in Marbella that permit dogs and which were opened last June, will be equipped with showers and fountains.
Responding to the long standing requests from the public, the Council has now approved the funding for the Ventura del Mar and El Pinillo strips.
The cost of the facilities for the beaches (which together make up 250 metres of coastline), has been calculated as €5,384, and they are to be installed as soon as possible.
The company Azerto Inoxidables has been tasked with supplying the equipment, and Councillor for beaches, Manuel Cardena, says that more play areas and shaded spaces are planned.
However, as part of the measure it has been made clear that animals must always be controlled by their owners, who must collect excrement and deposit it in bins.
In addition, bathing is prohibited along the entire front of the canine beaches, and users must comply with the rules on protection and possession.
The dogs must also be micro chipped, properly vaccinated, dewormed and accompanied by an adult at all times.
Animals that are classified as potentially dangerous must be on a leash and are only permitted to walk on the wooden promenade, not the beach itself.
