Power cut leaves Denia in the dark

A POWER CUT swept across Denia, affecting Les Rotes, Les Marines, Calle Marques de Campo and the Plaza del Oeste.

Homes were affected together with streetlamps and traffic lights. Traffic came to a standstill, causing issues and bottlenecks at various intersections.

The cause of the power cut was reported to be a fire near the IES Maria Ibars school which broke out at around 5.30pm and took firefighters half an hour to extinguish.

The fire caught one of the overhead power lines and threw the school and the neighbourhood into darkness.
