Brit fugitive arrested in Benidorm over child abuse claims

NATIONAL POLICE based in Benidorm have arrested a man on the run from the UK.

The so-far unnamed man – aged 59 – is wanted in Britain for a number of alleged crimes of sexual exploitation involving children and faces a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.

His arrest took place within just 24 hours of a European Arrest Warrant being issued.

After initial investigations, it was quickly established that the fugitive could be living in Benidorm where he was tracked down and detained.

The man was convicted in 2010 accused of possessing and distributing images of a sexual nature that contained children.

Following his arrest, he is now awaiting for the formal extradition procedures to be put into place for his return to the UK.
