NATIONAL POLICE have arrested a British man on the run from the UK.

The fugitive, aged 71, is accused of carrying out sexual assault on four nephews back in the 1980s when they were aged 7, 12, 13 and 15.   The alleged offences took place in the man’s home when they were staying with him during the school holidays over a number of years.

The arrest took place in Calpe earlier this week after intelligence suggested he was staying in the area, and followed the issuing of a European Arrest Warrant submitted through the authorities in Madrid.

Prosecuting authorities in the UK are looking for a prison sentence of up to 25 years for the man’s crimes.

According to reports, the four children underwent various courses of treatment for some years after the alleged incidents due to the psychological traumas suffered as a result of the abuse.

The man’s identify has so far not been released.
