MARBELLA COUNCIL has awarded a space to Marbella Kayak Fishing Club on the marina, with the support of the Municipal Society of the Puerto Deportivo Virgen del Carmen.

Councillor for Ports, Manuel Cardeña, has overseen the agreement and explained that it is part of a wider goal of promoting water sports in the area.

“We want the club to have its own facilities for the storage of the kayaks, and so that it can continue increasing the number of members and spreading awareness of the sport,” said Cardeña.

The Kayak Fishing Club (which has 40 members) will set up its headquarters on the port and will be fully equipped.

Sponsorship opportunities will also be sought in the various competitions in which it will take part, so that “Marbella is heard in the kayak world.”

President of the club, Francisco Morilla, thanked the support of the council and encouraged the public to make a visit to the new location.

“These facilities will allow us to publicise the sport of kayaking and fishing in this area,” he said, adding that the move to the port “facilitates the celebration of activities for children and other events.”
