AFTER the recent storm, Marbella council will study measures to stop erosion on the beaches of Las Chapas.

The clearing in the skies has allowed beach technicians to establish that the Las Chapas stretch of coast was the worst hit by the rains and the strong waves.

A “stabilisation project” has been proposed by the council, with a range of reports to be commissioned on how to prevent surface erosion.

Plans to protect the beaches and dunes of Marbella against the threat of climate change are part of a wider move to learn more about coastal dynamics.

Izquierda Unida Councillor, Miguel Diaz, said that “the effects of the storms have come to stay and as a result we should take measures to repair and clean the beaches for Holy Week, so that they are perfect for the summer.

“We must also prevent and alleviate the impact of these storms, to deal decisively with this problem.”
