MARBELLA COUNCIL has installed orange rescue points on three of its beaches to boost safety for the public.
Beaches Councillor Manuel Cardena commented that the move is “in line with the action we are taking to keep the beaches in good condition throughout the year.”
The new contact areas will provide a direct telephone line with emergency services and will be functioning all year round on the beaches of San Pedro Alcantara, La Venus (Marbella) and Cabopino.
In addition, some beach bars and hotels will play their part by installing similar equipment on their premises.
“We also intend to re-examine our public tenders so that hours of safety coverage for the beaches will be extended,” said Mr Cardena.
The orange contact centres also provide lifejackets and a 320 metre safety line that enables people to pull those that they are rescuing to shore.
