THE entrepreneurs of La Carihuela, Torremolinos, have created an association to discuss and progress their plans for the area more effectively.
The group already has more than fifty members and includes the Association of Hoteliers of the Costa del Sol (Aehcos).
One of the major issues that it wants to raise is the need for renovation work along the local coastline, and a robust cleaning operation before tourist season hits its peak.
Mayor Jose Ortiz recently met with several of the entrepreneurs, along with Councillor for Urban Development and Beaches, Maribel Tocon.
The president of the association, Miguel Sierra, said that the aim is to have the involvement of all entrepreneurs and business owners “from the Plaza del Remo to the Rincon del Sol.”
Another issue that the group wants to see action on is the installation of breakwaters to protect beaches and beach bars.
These would be made of rock and prefabricated concrete, placed inside in the sea to reduce the waves and avoid dangerous displacements of sand.
