TRAM operators Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGV) have awarded a new contract for the temporary bus service that covers the stretch of Line 9 of the train between Calpe and Denia while it remains closed for works.
The bus service has been extended until the end of this year as it appears that the original deadline for the completion of the renovation work is unlikely to be met.
The contract, at a cost of €611,325, has been awarded to Calp-Denia UTE 2018 which will provide the link until December, but according to a report in the Spanish press it is expected to be extended into the new year.
Four buses will be used to cover the 32 daily trips between Calpe and Denia and all stops in between, with the possibility of increasing their number at the weekend and during the summer months.
Previously, the service was operated by Autocares Vista Alegre from October 2016 until April 2018 at a total cost of just over €900,000.
