Four deaths in suspected terrorist attack in Liege, Belgium

EARLIER today (Tuesday) an individual who had been let out of prison last Monday on temporary release killed two police officers and a passer-by in the Belgian city of Liege.

According to local TV reports, the man followed the police officers and attacked them with a knife before getting hold of one of their guns and shooting them.

He then shot a passenger in a passing car, killing him as well.

The individual then fled to a local school, taking a female cleaner hostage but was himself shot by officers of the Belgian Police although two officers were injured in the process.

As yet the man has been identified, nor has his motive been confirmed but the event is being treated as a terrorist attack.
