TOURIST chiefs will pay for British film producers to visit picturesque locations in a bid to bring big-budget movie shoots to the Costa del Sol.
It comes after scenes for hit TV series Game of Thrones were recently shot in the area, with the group of industry bigwigs set to visit Malaga, Ronda, Antequera, Coin and other beauty spots.
Arturo Benal, general director of the public firm Turismo Costa del Sol, revealed that the itinerary has been designed to ‘meet the producers’ most demanding expectations,’ and insisted he is confident the scheme will prove successful.
“This kind of idea not only helps to promote the Costa del Sol, but will create jobs and boost communities if we can bering companies here to shoot movies and TV adverts,” the official said in a statement.
In Antequera – an hour inland from Malaga – the producers will be taken on a guided tour of the dramatic El Torcal nature reserve, which recently featured in NBC’s Wizard of Oz-based fantasy drama series Emerald City.
The move is reportedly being co-funded by the Malaga Film Office and Andalucia Film Commission.
