MARBELLA has set up five assisted bathing areas at selected beaches throughout the municipality.
The assisted locations will enable people with disabilities to bathe in the sea using the help of professional life guards and an amphibious chair or hoist.
This free service will allow families to bring down their loved ones, whether an elderly relative, a person with disabilities or an accident victim to the shore to enjoy an assisted where dedicated staff will escort them into the sea for 30 mins bathing time.
Matías Francica, Director of the Salvage and Lifeguard Service of Marbella, has said that the response has been overwhelming. “I remember a woman came with her teenage son, who had a significant disability due to a motorcycle accident, and when we were able to put him in the water the woman cried for joy to see her child being able to bathe in the sea”, he explained.
The five beaches are Pinomar, La Bajadilla near the fishing port in Marbella, El Faro beach near the lighthouse, La Salida beach on the San Pedro Paseo maritimo and El Rodeito Beach by Puerto Banus.
Access to this free service that will be provided until September 30 by the company Aquatic Media, awarded the Salvage and Lifeguard service, is made by appointment in the phone 607 310 261 between 11.30am and 7.30pm.
