FUENGIROLA COUNCIL is taking action against prostitution in the town.

Although there are already regulations in place on the issue, these are being developed to combine both laws and punishments in the same document.

The legislation will state:

“It is not allowed to solicit, negotiate or accept, directly or indirectly, paid sexual services in spaces, buildings or facilities that are public property.”

Likewise, activity that is considered to be promoting prostitution i.e. bringing potential clients to prostitutes or helping with advertising, will also be open to prosecution.

The most serious offences in this regard will be in danger of receiving fines of between €1,500 to €3,000.

In addition, new regulations are being brought in to clamp down on sexist advertising that focuses on the “sexual exploitation of women.”
