A FORMER BBC Radio Sheffield host is in a coma with a bleed on his brain following an attack outside a bar in Benidorm.

Jimmy Carol, aged 63, and known as “Yorkshire’s Favourite Scouser” to his old listeners, was taken to the Alicante General Hospital shortly after finishing his popular comedy act.  According to reports, he was hit so hard by his attacker that he was unconscious before he hit the ground.

Apparently, Jimmy went to intervene during an incident involving a group of drunk men who were allegedly harassing some girls across the road from the bar he was working.

According to a heartfelt and emotional plea on social media from Jimmy’s son to find the person responsible for the attack on his father, they are looking for a 6ft tall man, slim / athletic build, with curly hair, and wearing a red England football shirt.

According to witnesses, the suspect fled the scene immediately, and if anyone has any information on the attack they are asked to contact the Guardia Civil.

Jimmy was the host of BBC Sheffield’s Sunday show between 2001 and 2015. He also played a number of supporting roles in ITV and BBC TV shows.
