GUARDIA CIVIL officers based in Granada have arrested a 41-year-old man as a suspected drug trafficker.

He has reportedly been arrested for the second occasion in the past three months.

The man – who resides in Torrevieja – was found to have almost 41 kilos of marijuana in his hire car which was stopped by the Guardia after committing a traffic offence.

He was driving along the A-92N in Baza, Granada towards Puerto Lumbreras in Murcia when he was pulled over.  As soon as they opened the door, they immediately noticed a strong smell of marijuana.

Once they searched the car’s boot, they discovered nine bags filled with the drug.
