MAYOR of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, wants to move forward a proposal he made at the end of last year to construct a new motorway linking Fuengirola with Chilches.

The initial draft of the project was presented in November 2017, as an introduction to plans that would eventually be shown to the Ministry of Development.

Now a detailed traffic study of the project will be undertaken by public company Promalaga, with a budget of €56,870.

The timescale for this will be three months, and the study will assess the necessity and impact of the motorway.

An early estimate has put its cost at around €764 million, and two stretches of road are included in this amount.

One would join the motorway at Chilches with that at Las Pedrizas, while the other would connect Fuengirola with Alhaurin de la Torre.
