CELEBRITY chef Steven Saunders was taken back 25 years when TV favourite Lorraine Kelly walked through the doors of his Little Geranium restaurant in La Cala.
The much-loved presenter had booked a table with seven friends under somebody else’s name to surprise the Michelin award winner.
“I didn’t know Lorraine was coming in last week, the reservation was in a different name. She just walked in and said ‘Hi Steven, I thought I would come in and visit you’.
“I had not seen Lorraine for 25 years when I was on her show, so it was a lovely meeting. She looks so young. She was always adorable and professional.”
Steven, who runs his business with wife Michele, has been hailed one of the original ‘celebrity chefs’.
Back in the 90s he appeared regularly on BBC TV’s Good Morning Show before becoming one of the main figures on Ready Steady Cook, appearing in over 200 episodes.
These appearances were followed up when he was appointed chef presenter on Channel Four’s Here’s One I Made Earlier and as presenter for Sky TV food channel.
As well as making media appearances Steven found time to open The Sheene Mill Hotel near Cambridge (which his daughter now runs) The Lowry in Manchester, Brocket Hall Restaurant and Golf Club, Welwyn Garden City and Steven Saunders in Newmarket the first 100 per cent accredited organic restaurant.
