A NURSING home in Benalmadena has suffered an outbreak of scabies which has affected six people.
The detection of this skin disease, which is extremely contagious and irritating, has forced the Junta de Andalucia to announce the breakout.
Several relatives of the inhabitants say that the number of those infected is actually more than twenty, and have condemned the poor hygienic conditions of the home.
The management of the nursing home have insisted that they reported the outbreak immediately, while the relatives argue that they took weeks to act.
Most of those suffering from the skin condition have had to receive hospital treatment.
The nursing home has 69 staff caring for more than 100 elderly people in the nursing home.
