A WOMAN has been barred from the municipal swimming pool in Pilar de la Horadada for not wearing the correct swimwear.
According to reports, she has taken legal proceedings against the pool after they stopped her wearing a pair of shorts as well as a bikini top…which allegedly contravenes the dress code.
The woman, Gema Rodriguez, who was accompanied by her 18-month old daughter at the time, has told her story on Facebook to which she attached her formal complaint sheet she filled in at the time of the incident.
“A man can wear swimming shorts, yet a woman can’t?” she questions. “We have to wear a bikini bottom yet men can’t swim in their boxer shorts…why?”
The woman alleged that both the lifeguard and the security guard at the pool told her that what she was wearing failed to comply with current regulations because “the rules say women have to wear a swimsuit or a bikini.”
The story has gone viral on Facebook where it has already been shared more than 1,500 times.
