MEMBERS of the RAF Association Costa del Sol Branch, together with family and friends, gathered at the Tamisa Golf Hotel to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the formation of the RAF.
Jack Griggs, the Chairman of the Costa del Sol Branch welcomed the guests which
included some from the UK and also members of the Royal Naval Association at Almuñecar.
After a meal the amateur theatre group ‘A Touch of Class’ entertained guests with a 3patriotic performance which included lively audience participation singing wartime hits such as The White Cliffs of Dover and Wish me luck as you Wave Me Goodbye.
The guests joined in Land of Hope and Glory with their extremely enthusiastic singing and flag waving!
Following this performance Laura Ellen provided entertainment for dancing with a varied repertoire which included everything from Rock and Roll to an operatic version of Time to say Goodbye. The evening closed with a rousing rendition of the National Anthem.
The Association relies on the proceeds from their social events for the vital welfare work aiding both serving and former members of the Royal Air Force and their families.
The association sends its thanks to to everyone who provided raffle prizes with special thanks to Tamisa Golf Hotel and Ollies Bar at Arroyo de la Miel for donating prize vouchers and Reg Haywood.
In total the event raised €209 for the funds. There is also a social get-together at 1 o’clock on the first Monday in the month at Ollies Bar, Avenida Bonanza, Arroyo de la Miel and at 12 o’clock on the third Monday of the month at Saydo Hotel, Saydo Park, Mollina.
