MIJAS Mayor Juan Carlos Maldonado is attending the World Travel Market from November 5 to 7 in London.
Tourism Councillor Josele Gonzalez is also in the delegation, which is seeking to strengthen its ties with the British tourism industry through various meetings with tour operators and travel agencies.
Mayor Maldonado said:
“We must highlight the importance of British tourism and business to our town, which then translates to direct investment into our economy.”
Mijas will form part of the Andalucian pavilion at the exhibition, and as they enjoy a stall that is 500sqm, they expect to receive more than 13,000 visits over the three days.
Councillor Gonzalez pointed to Mijas’ Strategic Plan of tourism and said that while golf will remain a cornerstone of the town’s attractions, “we must expand the range of possibilities that we offer.”
The World Travel Market will have more than 5,000 exhibitors from 182 countries and regions across the world, and hopes to top last year’s total of 87,700 visitors.
