FUENGIROLA Council this week unveiled a fleet of 20 electric tricycles to enhance the effectiveness and speed of the street cleaning service.
The new vehicles with pedals incorporate a small 120 litre mini container, which will replace the traditional sweep car currently in use.
Workers have received necessary training to use the vehicles and are required to wear bicycle helmets.
Mayor Ana Mula said: “These new vehicles have not only had a great acceptance among the people of Fuengirola, but also among the employees themselves. A worker commented that moving in this way allows greater agility in the delivery of the service, which encourages us to continue to implement initiatives like this.”
