New Zealanders head to fast food outlets and beaches

New Zealanders queued for burger, chips and coffees after being let out from a month long lockdown in their country. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern credited this to eliminating domestic transmission of the virus.

Around 400,000 people returned to work after Ardern shifted the strict lockdown down a notch after businesses had been closed for weeks. Long queues of cars were seen outside McDonalds in Wellington and Auckland from the early hours of the morning as people sought their fast food fix. One customer was quoted as saying

” we got Big Macs, Quarter Pounders and drinks. I have 2 cheeseburgers but can’t finish them”.

Surfing, walks on the beach and rounds of golf were among other pursuits enjoyed by some 5 million people. As one of the strictest lockdowns in the world were eased on Tuesday.
