In a potential huge blow to Spain, British holidaymakers have been told their summer holidays to the peninsular are ‘very likely’ to be cancelled.
UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock appeared on ITV’s This Morning to break the bad news.
Hancock said, ‘I think it’s a likely case’ after being asked by presenters Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby whether this would be the case.
‘I think it’s unlikely big lavish international holidays are going to be possible this summer’ the Health Secretary added.
Spain relies heavily on British tourism where the industry sees 12% of GDP and 13% of employment in Spain and the Spanish islands. Billions have been lost already due to the economic shut down.
