Spain PM Pedro Sanchez has appealed to Spanish parliament to be allowed to extend the national lockdown by a further two weeks.
He wanted to extend the State of Alarm to the 27th of June, around 5 weeks, but this was rejected by the Citizens Party (Ciudadanos ) with whom he made a pact recently.
However, his appeal of two weeks for the national emergency will go before Spain’s Congress tomorrow. If successful this means it will last until the 7th of June.
Opposition party’s Partido Popular and Vox will not agree to the extension they have stated with both being critical of how the Spanish coalition government has handled the pandemic which has seen 27,709 deaths due to the coronavirus.
