Despair over Bank Holiday A & E admissions

Medics across the UK are furious with people defying the lockdown to go out over the Bank Holiday weekend then ending up in A & E departments with drinking injuries. One NHS nurse said that “almost every patient” admitted to Bridgend hospital over the 3 day period was “drunk with a head injury”. The team at the hospital has had to do 12 head scans and plaster numerous limbs after people congregated in large groups in parks drinking, ignoring social distancing. She went on to say that these people had “completely destroyed her faith in human nature”.

It comes after Britons were seen drinking, swimming in rivers and having BBQ’s in 26c (78F) temperatures on Saturday. Police in Hackney, London, said they were fighting a losing battle with the large congregations.
