Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has spoken at the governments daily coronavirus press conference to say that there will be ‘no change today in the guidance or rules’. Raab did not confirm that the government were legally obliged to notify the nation on Thursday of any changes to the lockdown until he was asked by a BBC reporter. He did, however, confirm that at 7pm on Sunday the Prime Minister will be addressing the country setting out the governments strategy for exiting lockdown.
Latest figures from the Department of Health show that 30,615 people have died after testing positive for the COVID-19 virus which is up by 539 from 30,076 on Wednesday. The UK has the second highest death toll in the world from the virus with only the USA ahead on death rates.
