The alleged killer of motorcyclist Harry Dunn is now “wanted internationally” after Interpol issued what is known as a Red Notice, a family spokesman said.
The woman who stands to be arrested, Anne Sacoolas aged 42, has been accused of causing death by dangerous driving in December last yea. However, the request submitted by the Home Office for extradition was rejected by US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, in January.
The Red Notice is not an arrest warrant, it is issued to find fugitives who are wanted for sentencing or prosecution. The process is used so that member countries can be on the lookout for anyone wanted for this reason.
Mr Dunn, 19, died when his motorcycle crashed into a car near a US military base in Northamptonshire, UK, in August last year. Police forces across the world have been asked to locate and provisionally arrest her with a view to her extradition to the UK.
