Job retention scheme set to be extended until September

Government ministers are expected to extend the bankrolling of people wages until September, albeit at a reduced rate of 60%, whilst also boosting up pay packets for staff only needed on a part time basis.

These changes to the furlough scheme could be announced by the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, as soon as tomorrow. This move is to gradually remove people from the furlough scheme as Britain sees a slow easing of the lockdown with the government now keen to get people back to work. It was initially supposed to run until May but has since been extended to June.
