New virus app: A new application from the NHS that helps track people who have come into contact with the corona virus is due to be released later this month the government have said.
Australia ahead of UK in App trials
Australia’s Government is currently asking everyone with a smartphone to download a coronavirus tracking app. This has raised privacy and security concerns as some MP’s refuse to sign up, and has received mixed reactions from the public.
The New virus app software goes on trial this week on the Isle of Wight and is being developed by NHSX. The digital arm of the health service. Matthew Gould, the chief executive, told MP’s last week that it would be ready for when it’s need and trialed on a small area to begin with.
Assuming that the tests are successful it will be made available to the general public later this month.
Other countries such as China, Singapore and South Korea have been using tracing apps for a while now. Enabling people to self test whilst not being in the grip of a full lockdown. In Europe Germany has been testing a similar system while in India it has been made compulsory for workers.
