Senior citizens account for 87% of all corona virus deaths in Malaga Province

Nine in ten victims of the corona virus in Malaga province are over 65 years of age it has emerged according to Andalucian officials.

The data released by the government states the over 65s represent the overwhelming number of casualties.

Health officials say this is most likely due to the fact people in this age bracket suffer underlying ailments which the coronavirus attacks and weakened immune systems.

Between 65 and 74 year olds the death rates are 16% but from 75 onwards the rate is a staggering 71%.

The lowest bracket for deaths falls between 15 and 24 years old and 25 to 34 with percentages recorded at 0.2%

35 to 44 is 0.7% whilst 45 to 54 is  2.8%.

55 years of age to 64 is 8.9%

No figures were recorded for those under the age of 15 years in Malaga Province.
