Spain’s Health Authorities reported that today’s fatalities dropped to 123 from 143 on Sunday. New cases shown of 373, down from 621 on Sunday.
This is very promising news for the Phase 1 relaxation started in certain provinces in Spain.
Spain’s coronavirus death toll is currently at 26,744, showing the lowest increase since early April when the cases peaked.
Also excellent figures in from Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Asturias, Cantabria, Murcia and Extremadura. Less than 10 new cases in the last 24 hour period.
Other areas have not feared as well. Madrid, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, and Catalonia have all reported 30+ new cases.
Fernando Simón, director of the Health Ministry’s Coordination Center for Health Alerts and Emergencies stated today “Today’s figures are truly very positive.”
“The decision to allow children to go outside for supervised walks has not yet had any negative impact on the outbreak in Spain. We have not observed any substantial spike in new cases”
Data reported on Mondays can be slightly misleading though due to under reporting because of lower staffing levels at hospitals.
