Italy is prioritizing economic recovery by resuming almost all activities and reopening it’s borders from 3rd June. Whereas, Spain has prohibited even internal movement until the end of June, insisting that it’s better to endure the current economic crisis, rather than to risk another acute wave of the pandemic that may completely destroy the economy.
95 new virus related deaths on Wednesday
Spain saw 95 new coronavirus related deaths on Wednesday, having risen slightly from 83 on the Tuesday. It is, however, the fourth day running the total has been under 100. Spain has recorded 27,888 deaths and 232,555 infected to date. The Health Ministry have now asked people over the age of 6 to wear masks in public spaces where it is impossible to maintain a safe distance of two metres.
More than 100 positive cases in Breton slaughterhouse. After a second screening campaign, more than 100 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in a Cotes-d’Armor slaughterhouse. A workforce of 818 were screened, of which 44 tested positive, taking the toll to 109 in total. The infected staff will be contacted by the health department for contact mapping. The first screening campaign was conducted for 209 employees last Friday.
