U.K McDonald’s plan to install rapid electric vehicle charging points

McDonald’s has said that they are planning to install charging points at new drive-thru restaurants

The chain is partnering up with a firm who specializes in the technology. Charging points are to be installed in existing restaurants where possible. As the UK pushes to be more ‘green’ such options will become more important to customers.

McDonald’s has said that the charging points installed by their new partner would be able to provide an 80% charge in under 20 minutes. Although the pandemic has made a huge dent globally to car sales, there has been a spurt in sales reported in the last month for electric vehicle registrations.

McDonald’s said that its new partnership would “increase accessibility of rapid charging for drivers across the U.K. by providing a network of convenient and recognisable locations beyond service stations, residential streets and workplaces.”
